Solo show, Diary. Recent paintings.

Final Painting of the Old Order, 2017. Acyrlic on canvas, 30 by 30 inches.

I will be having my largest solo show to date at Marketview Arts (https://www.ycp.edu/about-us/offices-and-departments/center-for-community-engagement/marketview-arts/) at York College in York, PA. The show will be up from March 28 to May 6. There will be a closing reception on Saturday, May 5.

The show is almost a mini retrospective of my work from 2014 to now. I have never had a show with this many paintings or that represented so many years of work. I'm excited to see how it plays together. I am calling the show Diary because my work tends to be just that, my diary. My life bleeds into my work in coded form.

There will be a catalog for the show with an essay by artist Amy Boone-McCreesh. More information on Amy can be found here: http://www.amyboonemccreesh.com/.

Day of Patriotic Devotion, 2017. Acrylic on canvas. 36 by 36 inches.

#lonianderon, 2014. Acrylic on panel. 30 by 30 inches.

Through Our Eyes: Call for Artists

I'm honored to be helping curate and organize Through Our Eyes, and art exhibit dedicated to art created by people with autism spectrum disorder and related neurodevelopmental disorders. The show will open on March 18 at the Museum of Work in Culture in Woonsocket, RI (http://www.rihs.org/museums/museum-of-work-and-culture/).

We are looking for all types of art, traditional 2D and 3D artwork as well as digital media and performance. As there is limited time to organize the show I am primarily looking for artists who can get their work to Rhode Island easily, so a proximity to Providence, RI or Hartford, CT is a bonus.

The deadline for submission is February 3, 2017. Submissions should be emailed to RICart@Lifespan.org or you can email me at matthewjbest@gmail.com. You may submit up to five pieces. It is my intention to show at least one piece per artist. Artwork that celebrates the theme of the exhibition are welcomed.
